Crazi Springz Classical Pilates Studio
Crazi Springz Classical Pilates Studio is located in the downtown core of Penticton with free parking just west of main street in the Martin Street Plaza. Look out for our Crazi big sign! Crazi Springz offers both mat and equipment classes as well as private and semi private classes.
We are a full Classical Pilates studio offering equipment classes on the reformer, tower, spring board and wunda chair. Mat classes are on a comfortable cushioned mat with feet straps and wooden dowels and using props such as foam roller, weighted bar, magic circle, therabands , Oov to add challenge to your practice.
Why Come to Crazi Springz for your Pilates practice?
Unlike going to a class in a gym setting, at Crazi Springz Classical Pilates Studio the class sizes are limited to 5 students for Reformer and Wunda Chair, 8 students for Tower and Spring Board and 8 students for Mat classes, allowing you to receive more attention. If you are unable to attend a scheduled class we do offer private classes, which go beyond the set class structure to allow for a more in-depth and targeted approach.
It is highly recommended to attend private classes prior to joining a equipment class. 5 is the magic number, once you have completed 5 private classes you should feel comfortable attending a group equipment class.
What is Classical Pilates?
The Pilates Method was once called Contrology and was created by Joseph H. Pilates. It is a method of movement, strength, and flexibility which will guide your body towards your optimum range of motion. Pilates connects you to your “Mind, Body and Spirit”.
How do I know which class is best suited for me?
If you have never taken a Classical Pilates Class we recommend that you come to any beginners mat or equipment class. They are set classes that have been designed especially for beginners and cover the fundamentals and basic exercises of Classical Pilates. Although for true first-timers, we do recommend that you book a private class beforehand to learn the very basics at your own pace and fitness level.
Is Pilates for everyone?
Yes, at Crazi Springz we believe that Classical Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. However if you have a spinal or chronic condition, or are a senior and unsure of what class is suited for you we suggest calling to inquire before attending a class. We even offer a 30-minute private consultation class.
What is the difference between a Mat and Equipment Class?
A mat class is exactly what it sounds like. The routine is performed on a cushioned raised mat where you will be led through a series of exercises. You will be doing the work without the aid of any equipment; whereas in an equipment class you have the use of springs and straps in the apparatus that become extra muscles to aid you. But don’t be fooled, this can be just as challenging as the mat class.
How often can I go to a Classical Pilates Class?
The wonderful thing about Classical Pilates is you can do it daily and mix up your class from Mat to various types of equipment classes. You will notice that after doing Classical Pilates three times a week you will be able to pick up the rhythm faster and it will feel more like a dance for you.
